Thanksgiving in Jackson Hole WY

Hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving with their loved ones this year! Once again this year Nick and I went out of town with some friends and went snowboarding! It has kind of turned into a tradition that we always look forward to! This year we traveled to Jackson, WY, to ski at Teton Village! It was beautiful! Also I think I’m getting better at snowboarding haha! This was only my 3rd time and I definitely see and feel improvements. We were only there for 3 full days, yet I feel like we were really able to see and do a lot. Despite the fact that literally EVERYTHING is closed there on Thanksgiving day other than the slopes themselves. So PRO TIP: if you are going to stay here over Thanksgiving, pack yourself/ prepare to make yourself a Thanksgiving dinner. When I say nothing is open. I mean nothing. Not even the couple fast food restaurants in town are open. The only things open were the 2 small grocery stores that have very little to choose from and they were only open till 2pm. So I suggest making that your one day on the slopes and then give yourself the rest of the days to explore, shop, and eat some amazing food! If your a pizza lover your really going to love the town of Jackson, because I swear half of the restaurants to choose from were just pizza haha! It was a DREAM!

WHAT TO DO:

  1. SKI – First Things first if your here during winter you have 2 options of places to ski. One Teton Village. I feel like this is the one most people prefer and has a lot more runs. There option is Snow King Mountain. Its a lot smaller, however I feel like is more kid friendly and has the option for tubing! Also is location right outside Jackson.
  2. AEIRL TRAM: THIS IS A MUST! Sadly this was closed due to covid on our trip, but I have been up it during the summer and it has the most beautiful views! Also once at the top eat at Corbet’s Waffles!
  3. NATIONAL ELK REFUGE: This is just right outside of the Town of Jackson and from what I have read online is an amazing experience and is also a MUST! We only had 3 full days there so this kinda got overlooked, however it is definitely on my bucket list for my next visit to this beautiful place!
  4. TAKE A DRIVE: heading North out of Jackson there are so many beautiful spots to pull off the road and take pictures! The views are stunning and keep an eye out for all sorts of wildlife! On our trip we saw moose, bison, a fox, a coyote, and swans! Some must see stops along the way are Moulton Barn(closed during winter), Chapel of the Transfiguration, Blacktail Ponds Overlook, Glacier View Turnout, Schwabbacher Landing, Snake River Outlook, Triangle X Ranch(good photo spot or the gate!), and then Jackson Lake(basically the most North you can go during the winter months)
